COLOMBIA, LATIN AMERICAN PIONEER IN CELL REGENERATION

Colombia will turn in the first country in Latin America to implement a cell regeneration medicine treatment, due to the development of a treatment by various doctors and researchers for patients with diseases that until now are incurable.
The research team is led by Dr. Felipe Torres, director and coordinator of Cell Therapy and Stem Cells of Latin America, who alongside a team of specialists, had dedicated to study and find a treatment to autoimmune, degenerative and posttraumatic diseases, like multiple sclerosis, lupus, diabetes, arthritis, polymyositis, retinitis pigmentosa, arthrosis, Alzheimer and Parkinson’s diseases, vascular type dementia, among others.
“The cell regeneration medicine is born as a patient need for finding a last technology therapy, with an interdisciplinary point of view, where difficult evolution pathologies can be handled than in the present day are incurable by the existent methods, with therapies with rare side effects.”, pointed out Torres.
According to Torres, Colombia is a competitive country for the provision of professional health attention with cell regenerative medicine, since the needed technology exists to contribute with the improvement of health of millions of patients.
Abroad, Torres’ studies counts on the support of international organization like the Physiologic Regulation Medicine Society, Cell Therapy and Organobiotherapy International Society, Latin American Shockwave Society, etc.
Torres affirmed that in the present day the medical sciences had advanced and new technologies gives possibilities to people with diseases without treatments nowadays.
